When taking your road test to get your license when you have to back up 50 feet i heard you had to...

have one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the back of the passenger seat and look back not through your mirror??? do you have to or can you keep both hands on the steering wheel and just look back? also any tips on keeping the car going completely straight when going in reverse? any other tips on taking my road test?

  1. I never had to do a back up test. But yes you must put one hand on the steering wheel and one on the seat and turn around to look. As far as staying straight take it slow and if you have time practice at it. The reason for the hand on the seat is so you can get fully turned around so you are able to see the things around you.

  3. Play their games.  Do it their way for the license.  After that, you can back up any way yuou want.
