When talking about soft drinks, Do you say Soda Or Pop???

In NORCAL we say Soda.

I never even knew people said Pop until i started traveling.

I thought Pop was from the old days when soda was first invented.

  17. I'm from the South (USA).  We say coke.  It's all coke.  We say "Do you want a coke?"  The person replies, "Sure, what have you got?"  You say "Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sprite, or Dr. Pepper."  They then select from the choices of coke you offer them.

    In the UK we say soda-pop.

I'm from the Bay Area in Northern Cali as well.  We say Soda.  I used to work with a chick who was from the Midwest and she always said Pop.  There was another chick from the South and she always said Coke--no matter if it was Pepsi, 7-Up--it was a basic general term like Soda and Pop.  She would say "What kind of Coke do you want?"   That one I always thought was the strangest.
