When teachers have s*x with students (what is with this double standard?)?

Why is there always a catastrophic uproar when a male teacher has s*x with a female student, but when a female instructor takes does the same thing with a male student, it isn't frowned upon nearly as much?

  1. All teenage boys want s*x, some more than others. [I'm in high school now, and trust me thats all what guys are looking for]. Girls are generally considered more 'tame' than boys and don't encourage it, whereas boys do.

So people think that it's 'rape' when a young girl has s*x with an older man, and s*x when a boy has s*x with an older woman.

  2. I don't know where you've been, but in the past couple years there has been a huge outcry over female teachers having s*x with male students.

And I agree with the first person to respond to your question. Sexuality for women is seen as something shameful, so if a man tries to have s*x with her it must be done against her will because she would never submit to something so degrading. (Unless, of course, she's a ****. Right) Sexuality for men, on the other hand, is seen as a robust and highly acceptable part of male life. Any many who doesn't want to participate in s*x is labeled a pansy, a weakling, less than a man. (And you notice we have no popular words to describe a man who has a lot of s*x. That's because men are supposed to do it. Women aren't.)

The stuff in parentheses was written sarcastically. I'm not saying you're not smart enough to get it, but I do know that sarcasm has a history of not translating well over the Internet.

  3. Recent events indicate that the women teachers are getting in just as much trouble as the men. Must consider how a man giving in to the wiles of a 17 year old gets jail and a s*x offender label. Shouldn't we have some wiggle room here?. When I was 17, if a female teacher made any moves on me, I'd have considered myself the luckiest dude in school. Abused, h**l No!

  5. If you read newspapers (and obviously, you don't), you would have seen several recent high-profile criminal prosecutions of female teachers who had s*x with their underage male students.

No "double standard" exists in American law or practice. The crime of having s*x with a minor--"statutory rape"--is prosecuted regardless of the s*x of the victim or of the offender.

  6. I disagree with your statement. Ever heard of Mary Kay Letourneau, Debra LaFave or Pamela Rogers Turner?

  7. People think that s*x for a girl is a detrimental thing that will hurt her well-being and destroy her reputation.  They can't imagine that a girl might enjoy it, so she must be being taken advantage of.  People think that s*x for a boy is normal and something to aspire to- s*x with an older woman would be considered an accomplishment.  It's basically sexism.  They are both wrong and criminal, and should be prosecuted equally.
