Question:

When teething would your baby go a day without eating or just eat poorly? Or is this something else?

My son wouldn't eat today. He did, however, chew on food and then spit it out. I know it isn't because he disliked the food because I tried things he would normally eat happily. He chewed and chewed like always but right before swallowing he would spit it right back out! Could this be because of teething? He seemed fine otherwise- happy and energetic.

  1. My son doesn't eat much at all when his teeth are bothering him either. He is growing his 2 year molars right now and we are back to the point where he wont eat barely anything all day. Then some days he wont stop eating. I think it depends if his gums and teeth hurt. If it lasts too long or he loses a lot of weight I would be concerned

  2. try pureed food or soft cold foods for  him. It is normal and he won't starve.  water, juice and other liquids.

  3. My kids never ate very much while teething!  Yes we had days where I felt like they didn't eat anything!  They did a lot of chewing on crackers, teething biscuit and would drink juice / milk (especially cold).  I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as he continues drinking.  He won't starve himself!!  When he feels hungry again he will eat!

  4. If there are no other signs it is probably just the gums hurting from teething. But watch for fevers and fussiness as it could also be the beginnings of a sore throat.
