  1. other teams can do their own haka and it is a tradition in other countries just as it is in New Zealand.  I think the women don't usually do the Haka - but this always seemed silly to me because the traditional Maori haka, which the New Zealand team stole theirs from, were often performed by women.

  2. Pacific Island teams also do a haka (or their local equivalent). Samoa particularly. There is an issue as to whether a haka can be performed *at the same time* as the other team. Current thinking is that it is disrespectful for another team to do their haka whilst the All Blacks are performing theirs and instead must wait until the AB's have completed theirs. Not sure if this is true or simply a marketing ploy though.

Women of various tribes can and do do haka. However, the Ka Mate Ka Mate haka is to be performed by men only. Women sing it instead but at the same rhythm and timing as the men chanting it.

  3. Yes and it has happened before,  All Blacks vs Western Samoa.  It is a tradition greeting to your adversary or someone who is a visitor ro honoured guest.  No women do not do the haka.

  4. Yes to both.

The PI team's are the only one's that man up to the Haka, other teams and more to the point their supporter's sulk at the mere sight of Ka Mate or Kapa o Pango.

  5. Yes they can...they cannot sing their anthem though..or the all blacks sulk.

  6. yes any team can do there Haka/War dance as seen here with the ABs and Tonga, however only the Pacific Island nations have adopted this into there pre match games.

Traditionally women were not allowed to perform the haka only support it however tradition has evolved since then and yes some women do perform the haka however they use more gentle movements and donot stick out there tongues but use there eyes for emphasis. The black ferns (NZ womens rugby team) is the only (womens) team I know of that does the haka although I think it would be more of a chant with actions than an actual haka.
