Question:

When the TAPS people declare a place as haunted, why isn't the place then swamped with scientists, etc.?

Since these guys are the expert plumbers, excuse me expert ghosthunters, and they declare a place haunted, looks like this would be big news to the major news organizations, religious leaders, and just about everyone, since it might indicate the possibility of life after death. Looks like the next day, the place would be swamped with legitimate scientists, the government, etc.

But all that ever happens, is that they sit down at a table, and say yep, you are haunted, but I don't think you will be hurt. Let us come back again sometime. Bye.

And if you ask someone if they saw the latest ghosthunters and how they found a real haunted place, they just laugh.

Or is this topic really given no credibility at all by real scientist? And if so why?

  1. Obviously, because scientists and for that matter religious folks.Know BS when they see it.

Another question is why don't they bring a scientist or skeptic along with them. There are plenty of skeptics and scientists that love to be on TV.Who wouldnt want to see Penn Gillette tag along with the guys.

  2. Well I have asked that before, it is weird that doesn't happen but I think scientist are to worried about finding cures for diseases then some Ghosts.

I love the show though and watch it all the time.

  3. there is a million dollar reward for proof of the paranormal?

if anyone thinks it is real go to this site one million dollar reward for proof

    here is the link

    http://www.randi.org/research/index.html

something tells me the prize will continue to go unclaimed

  4. Scientist only care about things they can prove and for somthing to be proven it needs to be in a labatory setting and repeatable

Taps is for the people not the science they do their best to help the people using theories other people come up with and seems to be possible such has EMFs EVPs ect

  5. Haven't you heard?  Scientists are too closed-minded to take hauntings seriously.

  6. Because scientists believe in science and not magical mumbo jumbo.  If these people had any credibility, then yes, REAL scientists would investigate.  But they are not credible, so no real scientist is going to bother.  These shows are full of fallacies that would make your brain melt if you paid attention to what was really going on.  The people who do this are in it for the money and fame.

Don't be fooled!  Use your brain!  Watch something decent, like Mythbusters.

  7. While I am sure that Taps is well versed in the field, no one is an expert.  No one has all the answers where the paranormal is concerned.

People call you to their homes/businesses for a variety of reasons if they feel that they have paranormal issues.  Some turn out to be legit, most do not.  They are plagued by natural sources that they were not aware of and assumed that they were paranormal in nature.  If a property is found to have activity, most just want verification.  Some would prefer to have it go away, but most do not.  If you will notice, when the interviews on camera are done with most clients of TAPS, most just want them to find the source.  They sit through the reveal and them exclaim " I told you so" in one form or another.  There have been cases where people were still insistant that there are ghost and spirits even though the evidence was not there.  So whatcha gonna do?

TAPS does have communication with a client after an inventigation.  They never just tell you what they know and leave never to be seen or heard of again. They have stated plenty of times that they are as close as a phone call.  Now, if they don't get that call...not a lot to be done.

The show is entertaining, and honestly, I think they are hurt a bit by it since it appears that they spend a short amount of time at a location, then they are gone.  But what about those private cases that you don't get to hear about?  Yes, they do those also...Do you suppose that anyone actually has too many complaints about TAPS or a TAPS family member team who has come to their property to investigate?  I think they are fair and as honest as they know how to be with their investigations and answers.

  8. First of all, I am a scientist. It has been my career since college. I hold a degree in Polymers and Coatings Technology and another in Professional Chemistry. I also have a minor in Physics. For 12 years, I have been a Technical Director of a Research and Development Lab. I am as geeky as they get. Oh and yeah, for 11 years I spend my nights hunting ghosts.

While people are right, TAPS is not a credible source. They do not know how to properly operate their equipment half the time, despite acting as experts. They do not follow the scientific method in any way, despite offering "scientific investigations". They are on the Science FICTION channel. Regardless of all this, that is not the main reason scientists do not flock to these places, nor religious clergy. For scientists the reason is simple. They do not get paid to go across country and check out haunted homes or businesses. Scientists, like most productive members of society, need to generate an income. If you are not an actor of "reality TV" or the latest author of "How to be a Ghost Hunter", then there is not an income for going there. In todays tough economy where gas is over $4 a gallon, there is little inclination to spend money on travel, spend money on tons of expensive equipment, spend money on lodging, and food, and a ton of other expenses to simply come to the conclusion that "yup, this place is really haunted".

Now I am not clergy, but I can take an educated guess why they do not flock to these places besides the ever rising cost of a barrel of crude. If your life is centered around a belief structure, why risk your own mental peace of mind and go someplace that could alter your already set opinion.

  9. I love Ghost Hunters and watch it weekly, though I always wonder what is real and what is strictly to boost ratings. Even if the footage we see is real, modern science does not seem to recognize paranormal activity (ghosts) as a credible scientific topic. Science does not attempt to explain the existence of ghostly spirits, or how things like EVP's can be captured. I think that's why there are so many people and teams trying to develop methods. Unfortunately, most are out for their 15 minutes of fame.

  10. Cause its a TV show with a investigator that is an actress, it has a tech guy that jumps at the wind, and two lead investigators that see everything and never switch things up.

Sorry I love Ghost Hunters, but they are not credible at all.
