When the bill in a restaurant include a service charge of say 15%, does the waiter who served you get that?

Should I still tip the waiter if the bill includes a service charge?

  1. Usually no. It's put into a pool & its split between all the servers, and possibly the bus boys.

It depends on the restaurant.  You could always ask the waiter or manager.  Some places they all pool the tips together and then they get a percentage and the bartender gets a percentage and the hostess at some places also get a percentage.  If it was a "nice" place then the waiter would get the tip but he would have to tip th bartender and sometimes the hostess as well.

    Also I would tip 20%...

  6. When there is a service charge or when you give a tip, the money usually never ends up being given to the person you thought you were giving the money to. Instead all the money collected in tips/service charges is pooled together and then at the end of the day split between everyone, even the hostess.
