Player A strikes the cue and (a) pots a red ball (first colour potted) and (b) fouls by potting the cue. When player B takes his shot, can he pot a red ball, therefore making red his colour?

  1. Yes, he's got a choice. It would make more sense to go for the reds as there would be one fewer but it would depend on the positions of the other balls.

  2. Yes because Player As shot was a foul so the table is still open... :)

  7. it's a little known rule. Player B may choose to "call" either colour at this point, or he can play with an open table. In your example he could even select yellow then still pot a red with his first shot before continuing with yellows

  8. Yes absolutley. He has made a foul pot so it is discounted and the table is open for next player.

  9. Yes it is still "open" in that case, until a player makes a legal pot.
