One person tried to tell me that you need to lower it first from half staff before raising it to full staff, but I objected. I was in the Navy and we never did that.

  1. The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. By "half-staff" is meant lowering the flag to one-half the distance between the top and bottom of the staff. Crepe streamers may be affixed to spear heads or flagstaffs in a parade only by order of the President of the United States.

  2. Do what you feel it's right

  3. flag etiquette says that is the proper way, lower it all the way first, then raise it, i am surprised, if you were really in the military that you did not know this already

  4. it is the flag etiquette saying to do that way.

  5. I was in the military myself. When the flag is flying at half staff, you raise it all the way up before you bring it down. The person that told you you had to lower it from half staff before raising it it confused.

  6. If it's the way, why not. It's a matter of concern in the situation.

than to do nothing, I think it will not take a day to do that..
