Question:

When the lightning strikes in the ocean does it kill the sealife nearby? How far would it cause damage.?

I live in Miami, Florida. Looking at the weather reports I see many lightning stikes happen in the open water. Is the jolt more powerful right where it strikes or is it spread out evenly.

No guesses please :) , I would really like to know the answer from someone who is educated on this. Thanks.

  1. lightning needs ground to strike it comes up stupid it is actually just static i dont know when you get shocked by static is usually in water no it is on the ground duh


  2. no, water is actually not a good conductor only when salt and other body liquids are added does it become dangerous, but if fish were near the top when lighting struck, i wouls imagine them to be fried.
