  1. They still continue to use them for events like concerts and sport events.

  2. apparently the beijing stadium is forming into a shopping centre! like china doesnt have enuf of those

  3. Take it apart and sell the metal..

  4. For Beijing 2008, most of the complexes were designed with the future use in mind. This was called the Olympic Legacy program.

The "Water Cube", venue of the swimming and diving will remain the same on the exterior, according to John Pauline (from the Architecture company that designed it) However, post games, there will be re-development: water rides, indoor beach, artificial wave machines - seating on one side will also be removed and office blocks and multi purpose spaces with views of the pool will be developed.

Other changes (according to Jeff Ruffolo, Beijing Organizing Committee)

    - Beach Volleyball center will be dismantled and turned into the world's largest ferris wheel

    - Baseball arena - Leveled for a Hotel

    - Hockey Ground - Shopping Mall

    - Gymnasium - Used for concerts/special events

For the Birds Nest, like the water cube, on the outside it will remain unchanged, but seating will be removed (capacity to 80,000). But below ground: the car parking will be made into a massive underground shopping center.

For other cities that held them, like Sydney (2000), they have been turned to public use parks, or are still used for events:

  5. They will use it for a football stadium or something. It will probably be used for an IAAF Athletics meet every year too. I'll give you some examples from past five Olympics.

Athens Olympic Stadium - various Athens football teams; 2007 Champions League Final

Stadium Australia - Used for Rugby Grand Final; cricket

Turner Field (Atlanta) - Home of Atlanta Braves

    Barcelona - Used for football

    Seoul - Seoul United FC

  6. China will probably use the 'birds nest' as a prison.

  7. use it for other events
