When the place you work receives a bomb threat - shouldn't they evacuate?

There are usually over 300+ people in the building I work in during office hours. A supervisor took a call from someone who threatened that there was a bomb in the building. He then went to lunch. When he came back he said as soon as he got time he would call the police. This seems extremely unsafe to me and actually makes me a bit scared.

  1. you should definetly tell this to police, thats is way not safe and your boss could get fired.unless he was just messing with you.

  2. It does not matter where you are but if a bomb threat is called in, they are required to evacuate the building just in case.

  3. The procedure is keep them talking, contact the police immediately and use a controlled evacuation in case there is a bomb, and the bomber is watching the building he won't detonate it when he sees a mass evacuation, although a disgruntled former employee  may place a second device at the muster point.

  4. Just to add to what Wally said, ever since 9/11, most large businesses have evacuation plans and protocols that must be followed in the event of an emergency.  Clearly, if I bomb scare actually occurred, your supervisor must contact the authorities immediately.

  5. That sounds pretty stupid, unless he was messing with you. Most, I should say many businesses have a plan for this event. Including getting as much information as possible. Sounds like your supervisor blew it off. I would not be happy ether.
