When the power goes off can your wireless internet still work? Paranormal activity maybe?

Recently, all the power (microwave, lights, refrigerator, etc) keept on going off and back on continously with about about a 1min gap in the first 3 then to a few seconds in each gap following that. I am wondering since all the lights and power appliances went off, how come my wireless internet was still working? I've experience power going off and back on and when it is off, so is my internet...this is back at home. I live in dorms now. So...was it really a power malfunction, or is there a presence in my dorm trying to get my attention? The student apartments are close to a near by cementary and it really scared me. Please Help! Thanks!

The wireless router is probably located somewhere else where the electricity did not go off. You are on a campus and I am sure that there is wireless everywhere, right?  Not paranormal, just a power outage.

Sounds like a power surge , I would make sure all of your items are on a surge protector.  As far as your wireless connection, its wireless really no need for power you could have picked up another signal during the time of the power going in and out.

Just because your dorm is near a cemetery doesn't mean your going to have paranormal activity. I live near a cemetery and a funeral home , and nothing paranormal has happened in my home.

I don't think you had paranormal activity. I don't know much about electrical matters, but I think that Internet is not with electricity. When the power goes out at my house we still have a phone because our DSL is with our phone company. It just sounds like you have some electrical problems, which I'd have checked ASAP. In addition, don't be weirded out about being near a cemetary. Cemetaries are actually least likely to be haunted because the souls are at rest.

My answer is.An entity would not inconvenience an entire Dorm to send you a message.Electricity goes on and off all over the country all of the time.It's a little arrogant actually to think you are the cause and effect.

There is the possibility that you are connecting wirelessly to a router that was not affected by the power outage.  I will assume that your computer was working on battery.

have the dorms check all the connections cuz it could be a short, but flip the coin and it could be paranormal but why would they bother a dorm room? we have had similar things happen in our house.  we were in the shower and the lights around the mirror flickered, went completely off and came back on after a few seconds. I thought my daughter was into something, went to check and she was watching tv.  It was wierd but cool at the same time.  I think theres something in this house but that hasnt happened in a while.  Look into the history of the dorms. find out if anyone died there.  thats a good place to start.

The first question I have for you is if your interenet is run by DSL or run directly through a dorm and all you have to do it plug the cord into the notebook  because if it either one of those scenarios, then yes it will still work because it is run through a phone line.    Some of the nicest places to go for walks are cemataries.  Try going and visiting during the day and seeing all the flowers and the names and dates of people, I think you will be less intimidated once you get to know some of them a little bit more.
