  1. dust particals...we had gorgeous sunsets long before the industrial age...

  2. dirt particles in the air

  3. All these wonderful colours are from pollution in the atmosphere. And we are to blame.

  4. Particles in the atmosphere. Could be dust, ash, moisture, or.....

  5. Yes, all of these answers are pretty much right.  Sometimes it's for very bad reasons, such as from industrial pollution, but sometimes it's just nature.  Think of the beautiful sunsets in Hawaii.

There's an old saying "pink/red sky at night sailor's delight, red sky in morning, sailor's warning."  Generally it means that if the skies are pink at night, then we will have a hot day the next day, ..but if they are in the morning, then there will be turbulence or heavy rain.  I've found this to be true!esp. about the night skies. --  And, this saying has been going on for centuries, before the city pollution, so Mother Nature has a hand at coloring the skies!

  6. From pollution. All the grunge in the air, make all those beautiful sunsets.
