  2. Its a foam just like a normal extingusher.

  3. The fire extinguishers are getting our of their jumpseats and giving instructions to passengers.  They are probably also communicating with the flight crew.

    Flight attendants fight the fires.  There are a number of standard hand held fire extinguishers on board either filled with halon or with water depending on where they are located.

  4. Acually some cargoholds have a Gaseous fire suppression system. his system uses inert gases to extenguish the fire. Carbon Dioxide is also common. I know that one of these gases is called "Halon". You might be able to use google to find out more.

  5. Halon fire extinguishers are used.

    They take the oxygen away from the fire and do not further damage the aircraft.
