When they drill to the mantle of the earth and the drill melts why not chuck a bomb down there and detonate it

  1. How about the bomb melting? The magma is extremely hot about 3000*C.

    Also the pressure, if the bomb detonates upwards, the magma will follow up as well.

  3. No, it's not possible. For a start it's not currently possible to drill all the way to the mantle, the deepest borehole in the world is the Kola borehole in Russia which is 12Km deep, less than half of the crustal depth (by a substantial margin). Secondly, a bomb detonation would not get anywhere near the core. It would most likely either not detonate or would collapse the walls of the borehole and fill it in.

  4. Because the bomb would cause the drilled "hole" to collapse---not to mention all the other damage it would do.

    Think about it.  If you dig a hole ten feet deep and put a small bomb at the bottom, detonating that bomb would fill in your dug hole by causing the hole walls to collapse.

  5. First of all the crust is way to thick you (moron ) would never get to it .So your fantasies stop there.
