  1. You should ask your caterer when they need the final count, especially for a sit-down dinner. Two weeks before is usually the cut off date. The invitations should go out no less than 4 weeks before the wedding.

  2. Latest 1 month before your date. However it really depends on when your caterers need to know the numbers by, and when you need to know the numbers by (e.g. if you need to make wedding favors, or if you need to hire seats).

If you put it 1.5~2 months before the wedding date, that would be ok too.

  3. my wedding etiquette book says you should give guests up until 2 weeks before your wedding to rsvp.

  4. 4-6 weeks before the event, so you can plan for the caterers.

  5. Well, you don't want them to get mixed up with the Christmas post, so it might be wise to send them out in mid October with an RSVP date of November 1st.

  6. The best answer would be to talk to your reception venue.  They usually ask for a final count in advance (I think two weeks is the norm).  From that date, back up your response date by two weeks.  That gives you two weeks time for mail that is late and to call those that haven't responded before you have to give your final number to the venue.

  7. ASAP.

  8. Congratulations on your upcoming Winter Wedding!

The RSVP date should be set for about 2 weeks out from the Wedding Date.  That way you will have a week to call all the slackers who did not respond, and still get your headcount to your caterer on time! Remember that invites should ship out 6 weeks from the Wedding Date, with Holidays; you may want to make it 7 weeks....

  9. At least a week before your count is due to the caterers.  That way you still have time to call those that didn't respond, or those that responded incorrectly...

Generally, a number is due to the caterers a week before the wedding (a round number; the exact number isn't usually due until a day or two before).  So you want your RSVP to be a week or ten days prior to THAT date.  Since you are getting married in January, be aware of the holidays.  If you are planning a wedding for the beginning of the month, keep that in mind.

    Example:

Your wedding is on Saturday, September 20th.  First count due to the caterers by Saturday, September 13th.  Your RSVP date should be NO LATER THAN Saturday, September 6th.  (Your invitations would be mailed out in the last week of June/first week of July.)

  10. When I was getting married, I was supposed to provide the guest count to the reception place 3 weeks before the wedding. Therefore, I set the RSVP date to 1 month before the wedding to give margin to people who like to be late.

I used one free online RSVP service http://anrsvp.com

The fact that it's free isn't mentioned there with purpose so that the guests who want to see the site won't think you are cheap. But actually it is free.

  11. Probably mid-November. Beginning of December at the latest.

This will be especially helpful if you are planning to serve a meal. You'll need a number of guests for the caterer and the church (or wherever you're getting married) and reception hall, as early as possible. This helps witht their plans.
