Question:

When to Start Guitar lessons???

First let me start by saying I work for a renowed Music Publishing Company, and have been told by several co-workers of mine that getting my son into the Guitar (or any other instrument) will enhance his school performances.

Long story short, my husband and I have decided we'd like our son to start Guitar Classes (of course, at the appropriate age) - but, what IS that age?

People at my work say 4 to 5, but I tink he's quite capable fo learning now, say on a Baritone Uke with similar tunings to the Guitar - would I be correct?

Also, will his lessons be more expensive because he's so small, and how often a week should he go to lessons?

Thanks in adavance!!

(oh, my son is 2 LOL)

  1. when my son was 2, we got him a cheap 1/4 size guitar, just to get used to it.

he does some notes, plucks all the strings individually and generally makes a good noise.

it depends on your son's concentration levels.

can he do anything for an hour without getting bored?

you might end up paying for a tutor's time, by the hour, when he gets bored in 10 minutes.

i would also guess, that as he is small, he would need all his own gear. no instructor will lend to a child that young, and it would be too big.

    my suggestion...?

get him a guitar and show him the basics. let him learn at his own pace, make it fun. when he's about 4, get him lessons if he's interested
