Question:

When to ask for a raise?

I’ve been working with a painting contractor for about a year now. He paid me 12 bucks an hour to be an apprentice. I know a lot about the work now and work as fast and as good as the guys that have been there longer. I always show up. Do you think I have grounds to ask for a 2 dollar raise? The average experienced painter makes about 15 an hour.

  1. you should ask for a .50 cent raise, and if you get that in 5 months ask for another .25 cent raise and keep doing that until you get to 15/hour.  Asking for a $2 raise will get you denied.

  2. Yep I think you should ask the most they can say is No and if you are proving yourself and they like your work they will give you the raise.  GOOD LUCK
