When should you change your transmission oil???

I have a '96 Honda Accord, 2.2 liters.

And I'm not sure when I should change the oil for the transmission.

After how many miles do you change it??

After how many miles do you do the first change, second change, etc.

  1. check when it is running and warm if it is not a cherry red it is time to change

  2. 40k miles or 1 1/2 years

  3. on the hondas they reccomend changing at 30k miles

  4. Like Johnny 5 liter said...read the maintenance schedule in your manual.

  5. The first time I would have changed it would be in 1998 or 30 thousand miles. Next change in 2000 or 60k miles, next 2002 or 90k miles.

  6. 2 years

  7. change the fluid and filter every 50,000 miles and you will be in good shape.

  8. I guess you have high mileage now in your car. You should change the timing belt and water pump (90k), change the trans oil every 30k, check also the brakes (rotor, brake pads and shoes). Bring it to any mechanic and he or she will check everything for you.

  9. read your owners manual maintenance schedule
