Question:

When to change to a fresh pair of contacts?

I have contacts that can be worn for two weeks (except when sleeping, obviously), but since I don't wear them everyday, I usually use the same pair for about a month or so. Once I get home from school, and the weekend, I just use my glasses. My eyes don't feel irritated or anything, and once I see that my eyes are tired from lack of sleep, or something like that, I use my glasses for a few days. I was just wondering if that will damage my eyes or make my eyesight worse, considering I've stayed in the same range for a while now. So, will it damage my eyes?

P.S.-My eyes rarely feel irritated, and the contacts feel fine even after the 2 wks.

  1. I have the same kind of contacts as you! And I wear them from 6 in the morning to around 11pm for 5 days a week and then even take naps with them in every afternoon. Hah. And I change them anywhere from 2-5 months. Probably not the best idea but I take super good care of them. But they only tell you every two weeks so they can make more money. You don't use them as much as me so you should be even better off especially if you're as careful as possible not to scratch them/drop them. Basically, you should change them when it's getting hard to put them in. You know how they are king of blueish when they're just sitting in the contact solution and they progressively start getting less blue? When they're not blueish anymore that's when you should start using new ones.

They won't damage your eyes if you take extremely good care of them making sure you're no accidentally scratching them with your nail when taking them in/out.

  2. I don't see anythingwrong with what your doing - it's good to give your eyes a break from contact lens. :)
