  1. my twins are 3 and still nap..as long as the child needs a nap then yes, let him take naps..

  2. yes, everyone should have naps.

I am 17, and I still nap after school.

  3. YES, AT LEAST A QUIET REST IN THE AFTERNOON FOR AN HOUR.

  4. I would say that when the child is out of kindergarten is when you should stop being persistent on naps. I have owned a daycare for 3 years now and I know that the three year old still need their daily naps just so they won't be worn out at the end of the day/

  5. yes.. people that take naps live longer.

  6. He still needs a nap if he can't make it through the day without being miserable and grumpy.  He doesn't need one if he doesn't get overtired, and can get to sleep quickly at night without a nap and sleeps soundly through the night.

  7. Seeing how they take naps when they get to Kindergarden, I say that yes he should still take a nap. He's still at a young age where he needs his rest in order to be energetic during the day and not so grumpy.

  8. I have six kids (the youngest is 3mo. and the oldest is 12 years old) and with mine, how old they were when they were napping varied from child to child.  It depends on whether you think your son needs the nap: is he tired in the afternoon? is he grumpy? does he want to nap or is it just a hassle with no rewards for you? do you need the time when he's napping?  Most of mine napped until they were nearly 5, but when they were around two or three they began rebelling against it.

In short, it all depends on the kid.

  9. I've read that after the age of 3 that the naps tends to disappear. I would just pay attention to how your child acts during his normal nap time. If he's cranky, yawning or rubbing his eyes, he might still need a nap.

Maybe there are days he won't need one and days he will. My bestfriend's son is almost 2 1/2 and he no longer naps. He is full of energy all day long, but then there are those rare days that he's cranky and needs a nap.

  10. If your child still lays down for a nap and goes to sleep or is quiet then the answer to this is he still needs one.  My son is 4 and he stopped sleeping during nap time about a year ago.  It all depends on the child.  We found he was playing and not laying down, trying to force him to sleep did not work so we let him stay up.  Sometimes he still falls asleep and we let him, but we don't make him lay down anymore.  So let your son's actions tell you if he really needs one or not.

  11. My daughter turned 2 in March and since about a month she  will not go down for a nap

  12. I have a 7 year old and once and a while she still naps. I would not put your child down for a nap, but maybe put him on the couch or bed with cartoons on. And if he falls asleep he needed a nap. If he stays awake then he wasnt tired. You dont want thim to over sleep.

  13. If he will nap and it doesn't affect his bedtime, then he still should have the nap.  All kids are different - mine gave up naps fairly early (around 2), but I've got friends with 4 1/2 year olds who still nap on a regular basis.  When he stops sleeping during the day, then he doesn't need it anymore.

  14. It all depends on what your child's needs are...and yours...

Some children NEED a nap...and 3 year olds cannot stay up all day long without a nap and be in a good mood all day...

The answer to your question in regards to him being 3 is YES...this baby still needs to nap.

They do it in kindergarten sometimes...and those kids are 5..

Some kids need naps as old as 7 or 8...some kids...not all.

YOU might want to consider using the nap time as a break for yourself...all of us moms need a break..and putting a child down for a nap gives us time to re-energize ourselves...what and how you decide to do that is totally up to you...

    Hope this helps...

  15. yes as long as he can
