When to do different slow dances?

So what are the different scenarios for different types of slow dances? Sometimes one hand is held during dances, sometimes both hands are placed on the girl's sides. Is there some "unwritten rules" on when to use each? Are some more personal than others?

i think that the holding one hand thing is less personal... more used with people you dont know as well. however, younger people seem to just use the close hold all the time... i think its a generational thing...
