When to even think about a new relationship?

I guess I'm just looking mostly for opinions here. I lost my boyfriend of 4 years to cancer in March/08 at the age of 39. How long of time frame should I wait before even thinking of starting a new relationship or what does society see as acceptable for this? I still miss him beyond belief.

I think you should be ready of a new relationship. You have to accept the reality of he will not come back anymore.  I guess, he will be happy to see you with new boyfriend but considering that the guy you will choose is perfectly match for you.  I guess, you are a very brilliant lady...........in my own observation......

You cannot even think about a time frame...whether you have lost a partner through death or whether you just end a relationship.

You need time, to come to terms with what you have been through.Like you say you miss him beyond belief.No one has a crystal ball............

Think about when you think it is the time, and not what society sais. You weren't married, so people are less concerned wether you have someone new or not. Don't waste a chanse of being happy with someone else just because the "society time" is not due yet.. Normally, after several years of marriage, the moaning time is about 1 year..

You used the word boyfriend like He was just a fling there are better ways to describe him. I get the feeling He did not mean that much to you.  Your ? sounds selfish It sounds like you were seeing someone when it happened and you feel guilty. I think you want approval for your past bad acts and for us to approve of your past sin. By bringing them out in the open and acting like nothing happens. If that's not the case 6 months ------ I hear a lot of aggression I suggest you seek help
