When to fertilize grass in North Florida and what kind is best?

The amount of applications of fertilizer depend on the type of grass you have.  Scotts makes good products and so does Bayer. I don't take any chances with cheaper products.  I have never had any problems with anything from Scotts, Miracle Grow or Ortho or Bayer.

I dont know whwat kind is recommended but i use vigaro fertilizer for my lawn, I woul suggest to fertilize 2-3 times a year

I buy Vigoro Weed and Feed for St. Augustine and apply it in February or early March and also in October here in Orlando. (That's not north Florida but it still might be applicable in your case if you have St. Augustine grass.)
