When to follow up phone job offer?

I interviewed for a job 2 weeks ago at a major university and they called and "formally offered" me the job over the phone 1 week ago. I accepted.They said they will file paperwork with HR so they can put together a compensation package.

How long does this usually take?

Will they call with the package details or mail it?

If I follow up on phone offer, do I do it with the supervisor I interviewed with or the HR?

Sometimes longer than a week.  

You should ahve asked for a formal offer letter immediately with the rest of the paperwork to follow.  A phone offer may or maynot be legit.  

Absolutely you should follow up with a phone call and even ask if they are going to take longer to put the paperwrok together, could you get a formal offer letter for the job as soon as possible.  

The formal letter shows intention (not idle promises).  Then wait for the paperwork.  I'm sure it will come.  Are they a good company?  Hope so.  

With the formal offer letter, you have a means, if they don't come through with a job, that you have some recourse.  Maybe even can file for unemployment against them.
