  1. You can give it to her as so as she will eat it and when to stop is about 1 years old with my son i gave him rice at like 13 week old he was just always hungry and the DR. never sad it was bad for him  so was the mom thing and do what you thing is bast

  2. I'm not going to criticize you, because i too tried around 3 months with my daughter. Thumbs down me you want, I don't really care. The thing is, even at 3 months my daughter hadn't lost the tongue reflex, which is when the baby automatically pushes whatever is in his or her mouth out with the tongue. Unless your baby is opening her mouth wide enough for the spoon to go in and not keeping her tonuge in the way, she's definitely not ready. So we didn't try again until 4 1/2 months, and she was able to eat it by then. I think we did that for about a month and then at 5 1/2 months we introduced veggies, then fruits, followed by meats. We also just gave it to her in the a.m. Occasionally before bed, but usually just for breakfast.

  3. The fact that you are feeding way too early aside, I wouldn't bother with baby rice, it has no nutrition.

  4. Starting at 4 months is the standard. The time of day should be whatever you are comfortable with because at this point solids are not replacing the formula. (I usually just gave around breakfast time at first) It is recommended that you stick to varying consistencies of baby cereal until 6 months and then start vegetables. If she really likes it, you may be able to start mushing up some vegetables for her at around 5 months. At 6 months you could probably start giving cheerios. But she may be ready sooner.

Baby rice and other baby cereals do have nutrition because they are mixed with breast milk usually. It is training your child to eat different consistencies of food and starting a more regular scheduled eating pattern. So many people disagree with the standards given by doctors who know what they are talking about when recommending starting baby cereal at 4 months old... Anyway, good luck with your little one.

  5. Hi, the best thing to do is let your baby decide when and how much she wants of the baby rice, i agree with the others that it is not very nutitional but it does provide the baby with the feeling of being full.

All babies are different in their growth and it is not easy to generalise. I would suggest you give her the baby rice in the morning and evening and move on to pureed foods when she is around 6 to 8 months old. there is nothing wrong with trying things, she will let you know when and if she is ready for something else. take care and enjouy your child, dont worry they let you know when their not happy

  6. i would give it to her breakfast and lunch untill her stomach gets used to digesting food, otherwise you might have trouble with her a night as they can get belly ache until there body gets used to soilds

  7. i started rice cereal with my baby around 5.5 months. i started out by making it very thin..almost water consistency and thickened it up from there over a week period. after a week i started experimenting with the stage 1 baby foods. start with the veggies 1st and then go to the fruits. until about 6 months i gave a 2.5oz jar of friuts or veggies in the am and then 1/8 cup of cereal in the pm. now that she is 6.5 months old she seems to be more active and a bit more hungry so i do 1/8 cup of cereal twice daily and a 1/2 of a small can of baby food. there is a nutritional value to these cereals!....its the extra iron the baby needs. besides they need the practice of eating solid foods. but remember to always breastfeed or give formula before offering solids because this is still the 1st form of your baby's nutritional needs. good luk an have fun with the funny faces while trying new foods!!

  8. hi ya,

i know the guideline is 4-6 months, but i started my son on baby rice before he was 4 months and he loved it. if she ate it then shes obviously ready. just give her a small amount then gradually increase it. i started off with some in the morning, then started giving him some at night.

i started my son on home made pureed food at six months. i used to puree veg and sometimes sweet potatoes.

cant remember when i started giving him cereal, but i gave him weetabix with some cooled boiled water and cow and gate cereal.

    dunno if this helps? xx

  9. I wouldn't give baby cereals at all.  They really aren't that nutritionally beneficial.

  10. If you absolutey must give solids this early, I would stick to once a day.  She really doesn't need them yet, and the more she gets, the less she is going to breastfeed.

If you ARE going to give solids, it doesn't have to be rice cereal at all.  She can have any simple babyfood you opt to give -- any cereal, jarred fruits or veggies, home-pureed stuff. (Rice cereal is a 'traditional' first food, but it had no real advantage beyond cheapness and convenience, and plenty of disadvantages [it tastes like cardboard [[babies who 'love it' usually  'love' the milk it's mixed with...], it's constipating, it is nutritionally empty, and it doesn't provide the varied tastes and textures that are the only real benefit to solids in the first few months of feeding them].
