after taking off, exactly when should i retract flaps (btw im in a 738). Like, is there an altitude, distance, etc etc. Does it depend on humidity, weight, etc. When should i retract them?

  1. As soon as you can tuck em in. Time to clean up and get out of town. She's acceleratin' faster than you can get em up anyway.

  2. here

This little website should answer all your questions about a 737, flaps and descent rates.

    heres checklist that i use

  3. The PFD will typically show a suggested flap schedule that you can follow, although you might want to adjust that for various reasons.  The sooner they are up, the faster and more economically you can fly.

  4. It depends on altitude and airspeed.

Generally first attain a safe altitude (at least 400 feet AGL) and accelerate to at least V2 + 15 knots. Be alert not to exceed the flaps extended speed for that flap setting.

Flaps can bend, warp and tear if flown beyond their designed speed.

Retracting flaps will momentarily decrease climb rate and also increase stall speed.

  5. General rule  of thumb:-

    1) After lift off, min 100 feet, with positive rate of climb - Gears Up.

    2) 500 feet positive rate of climb - Flaps Up. A bit back pressure here to hold the nose up because there is a momentary loss of lift once the flaps are raised.

The speeds and altitude dictate when to raise flaps.

  6. well is this flight simulator 2004/X or the real world were talking about.

generaly one you have established the decided rate of climb, you would retract flaps and adjust trim accordingliy.

    that website is pretty informative

  7. well, it depends. are you doing NADP1 or 2 or your company schedule? it will start at whatever you have chosen as your acceleration altitude to your enroute climb speed no?
