When to start TTC after miscarriage?

Question

I found out at my last doctor appointment this past Thursday that my baby had died. I was supposed to be 16 weeks.

I had an appt to have a D&C for Friday Morning, but ended up passing the baby at home Thursday night and went to the ER. Had a D&C to remove the remaining tissue early Friday morning.

My doctor knows that my husband and I are anxious to start trying again, she suggested to wait one cycle before trying.

Does anyone have experience with getting pregnant right after a miscarriage? Did you wait? Is it okay to start trying right away? Is there a specific reason to wait?

well they say to wait 2-3 months to  give your body time to heal ...I waited  three weeks and they put me back in clomid and now I'm waiting for a neg are positive ...I would say when u think you are mental and emotionally ready try ...just pray

I lost my son when I was just shy of 17 weeks pregnant.  I had to be induced and delivered in the hopsital..  my OB wanted me to wait 6 full cycles.

First trimester (up to week 13) are fairly common and not as rough on the body as second trimester miscarriages are.  Therefore its better to wait longer if you lost your baby in the second trimester.

I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Most doctors suggest you wait at least one month and until your first menstrual period before you should get pregnant. And the length of time you should wait depends also on the circumstances of your miscarriage and how far along in pregnancy you were when it happened. The longer the prior pregnancy lasted, the longer it's suggested to wait  getting pregnant.

It sometimes takes 2-3 months for your fertility and ovulation to return after a miscarriage. If it happens right away and you get pregnant there is usually no significantly increased risk of complications.
