Question:

When to use P-Tex?

I was wondering how serious (deep) a scratch or gouge should be to require a P-Tex job on it. I have a few scratches on my base, and I was wondering how deep they should be to require some P-Tex.

Thanks

  1. You can use ptex for most any gouge that digs into the base. Small gouges usually wont effect your riding but if you want its ok to Ptex em. I usually do anythting over about a 1/4in.

  2. If the gouge goes right to the core then you should fix it immediately.  Anything else can wait until you have more time off-season.  Small scratches can be ignored, but deeper ones should be fixed.  Check out chapter 11 of KUU's tuning guide: http://www.kuu.com/tuningmanual2.pdf
