Question:

When to use "sino" (who) and when to "ano" (what)?

Okay, I'm sure "sino" is used for persons and "ano" is used for things.

But how come when we ask a person for his name, we say "ano ang pangalan mo?" Since we are talking to a person, shouldn't we say "sino ang pangalan mo?"

I am a bit confused so I'm asking. Clarifications would be most appreciated. And no, this is not an assignment. Thanks!
