When towing a caravan in what position should the hand brake handle on the caravan be. ?

. Should it be towards the tow ball keeping the cable tight or should it be back towards the caravan leaving the cable loose. Does having it tight put the brakes on on or pull them off. THANKS

  2. The handbrake needs to be off....

  4. leave the cable loose

    tight cable is brakes on.

    try to push the van and check it moves ok before hitching it to the car

  5. brakes OFF!!!

    you should have a rigid hitch so there is no jerking when you accelerate or brake.

    also make sure the front wheels are off the ground in a towing cradle

    (I am assuming you are towing a dodge caravan mini van)

    other wise you can blow the transmission

    make sure you have tow lights

    and away you go
