When tracking an order online, what does "backorder" mean?

i ordered a cute bag and 2 other items online and i went to track my order and it said 2 of the items were "being processed" and one of them were "on backorder"?

what does that mean?

  1. The store is waiting for more from the factory or distributor. It could take a few days or weeks. It is hard to tell.

  2. When something is on back order it is out of stock. Your item/order will be placed in a priority list when they receive that peticular item and be filled first when item comes in.

  3. It means they did not have it in stock and are waiting to get it so it can be shipped to you.  Hope this helps!!!
