I just moved to PA but my car is registered and insured under my dad in Jersey. Can I still drive the car with a PA license and am I still covered?

  1. Depends on State laws. In Florida, if you live there 30 days, you are required to change license, plates and insurance to Florida (unless military or college student). They even check parking lots for out of State plates. Best to make sure with the insurance carrier about the coverage.

  2. I live in PA and work for an insurance company.

    These are the following steps:

    1)  Get your insurance switched to PA

    2)  Go to the DMV and get your PA drivers license

    3)  Go to a notary and get your title/ registration switched to PA

PA state laws for address change:

If you just became a Pennsylvania resident and hold a driver's license from another state, you have 60 days to apply for a Pennsylvania license. If you wait longer, you'll be required to labor through the whole testing process as if you were a new driver.

MEANING you DON'T have to take the tests as long as you are over 18 and get your license TRANSFERED to PA from NJ within 60 days... PAST the 60 day point is when you get to take all the tests!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Just apply for a PA license, you don't need a car to get a licence. And since your father has everything registered in his name then you don't have to worry about anything. The only thing you may want to ask is does your father have you down as a driver of the vehicle on his insurance. If he does, he may have to update the file with your new DL info but that is about it.

  4. you should be able to. My uncles insurance company is all the way in California and he was living in NY, NJ and now in Kentucky with a california insurance policy!

  5. It all depends on the policy.

    Some are state-specific, others aren't.
