When traveling back to India, can I shop duty-free in Bombay Int. Airport-if so @ what price, say cameras-HSM?

Now I'm in USA on tourist visa. I'm interested in byuing NIKON D40 DSLR OR SONY A200 DSLR two-lens zoom kit - how can I get it duty-free & @ what price at Bombay International Airport Duty-free shops, while returning to India = Himansu S M

  1. Usually Duty free applies to the departure airport, which means you could buy it in the Duty free shop in your US Airport of departure, not India.  You will have cleared customs in India before you see a shop.

    I've seen very few duty frees that carry that level of equipment in the US, you are probably going to have to get it at your local best buy and pay the applicable taxes.  Besides, duty frees are usually not such a great deal on other than high taxed consumables for countries that don't have a VAT (like the US).
