Tom Tom? Garmin? I'd like one that can help me get around town a little better, especially if it speaks to me. Let me know your experiences so I can buy the right one! Thanks!

  1. any one that uses telatlas maps such as Tom Tom. Garmin uses navteq which is the same as mapquest and yahoo maps. A good example of Garmin GPS is they don't even have Olathe, The town where they are located and in the greater Kansas City area, up to date. I could give you many examples as My business takes me all over the United States and Canada and encountered several areas that are incorrect on my Garmin. The street behind there own building is even listed wrong. Garmin unsuccessfully tried to buy telatlas which is the maps that Tom Tom uses, That should tell you something about Navteq maps.

  2. Though I haven't had the opportunity to try either, I have noticed that Garmin has gotten some good reviews lately (see sources for more).  As an added bonus, Garmin is based out of nearby Olathe, KS, which is part of the Kansas City Metro Area.
