I know that you need your birth certificate and a photo ID, but what if your only 15 and do not have an ID with a photo on it? Do you only need to bring your birth certificate?

Thank you

  1. You will need your birth certifcate, if you are travelling with your parents that is all you need, if not you will have to go get an ID card.  I'm not sure where you get them, call the DMV they should be able to tell you where to go.

  2. i still had to bring a photo id, i used an old school id card and my birth certificate, but if you have a passport that works even better, you can also get an ID card from your local DMV.

  3. sorry bud as of a few months ago you have to have a passport for any canadian- U.S travel.  you will need a copy of your birth certificate and your social security card to achieve that.  it might take a few months so if you have a trip planned you might want to get the ball rolling.   have fun eh!

  4. If you are under the age of 18 and do not have any form of ID, other than a birth certificate AND are traveling with a parent (whose name is listed on said birth certificate) AND that parent has his or her own Driver's License/State ID along with his or her birth certificate (or if he or she simply has his or her passport), then you'll have no difficulty.  Note that if you're traveling with only one parent, the other parent must be accounted for by supplying either:

    1) A death certificate of said parent

    2) A divorce decree or other court-issued legal document (original - not a photocopy) showing that the accompanying parent has sole legal custody of the minor

    or

    3) A letter, signed and notarized by the non-accompanying parent stating that he or she consents to have the accompanying parent escort the minor child outside the USA.

PS  Please note that diamondb33 gave you false information (I'm sure not intentionally) in a previous posting.  The requirement for passports for land and sea travel to/from Mexico, Canada and most of the Caribbean has been postponed until June 1st, 2009.
