When travelling by boat, can a thai citizen visit countries without first obtaining a visa?

My Thai girlfriend and I will be travelling by sailboat (hopefully). While travelling by air and land, we consistently have to obtain visas in advance, which often entails a lot of travel and expense, making much of our time turn into just getting visas. Does anyone know if it is any easier if your "home" is your sailboat and you just want to visit ports and islands?

  1. when you are travelling by water, you cross the border into another country and proceed directly to a 'port of entry' and check in with the local authorities, showing the boats papers and your passport. I think its easier and faster cause most of the people travel by land or air. not many people go with water transportation.

you need a visa or check in at the customs wherever you go, otherwise you can be in trouble. and if the sailboat is your home or not, I think it wont make a difference. otherwise people would do this just to get an advantage.

where will you be sailing? pirates are a big problem, they mostly raid or steal big cruise and cargo ships, but they can also go after boats. in modern countries there shouldnt be a problem, cause pirates are usually there where the poverty is and a weak law on the sea. wherever you go, avoid somalia and strait of malacca.
