When tring to replace the fixtures in my shower the head of the s***w broke off.?

How can I remove the remaining part of the s***w. It has calcium and iron deposits on it. The drain over flow has been there since I purchased my home. The home was build in the 70s. PLEASE HELP

  1. If any part of the s***w still protrudes you might try graping it with a pair of pliers - Vice Grips would be even better.  Or, you could cut a slot in the top with a hack saw to allow a straight bladed s***w driver attempt.  If the s***w does not protrude the only option will be to drill it out.  This is not always an easy task since the drill will jump around on you and plumbing fixtures are usually made of soft metal so peripheral damage can occur.  Other than that you may just have to bust the d**n thing with a chistle or try cutting it off with a hack saw.  Been there.  This will be a bear and you will not be satisfied with the results.


  2. see if you can grab it with a pair of pliers and continue to twist it out.  If you can't twist the s***w, you might need to drill it out.

  3. Drill it out unless you have an "easy out"
