When trying to connect with a netgear router from comcast, its says "problem reviewing ur IP adress" wat to do

i have a netgear router from comcast. and i can't connect wireless but i can with an ethernet cord. i know its not my computer cause i tried other computers and got the same thing. when i do a dianogtics is says "problem reveiwing ip adresss" how can i fix that. how should a get a tech. i already know custmer service cant help me.

  1. What are you using for wireless security on the router?  Sometimes actual hex keys work better than password or passsphrase for different brands of equipment.

    Do you have a 3rd party firewall or internet suite on the laptop (that might interfere).  Windows firewall should not be a problem (unless you have XP without at least SP2).


  2. Try what generally seems to correct this, unplug the router for at least 1 minute (time it at least 1 minute -2 is better). Reconnect the power wait for all the lights to settle and then see what happens. It usually fixes the issue.

    Routers are computers (really they are) and sometimes they just hang and need a reboot  - the only way to reboot them is to remove power - don't worry you won't loose anything!
