  1. yes, that way it makes it easier for ur reader to understand the story.


  2. Yes, but not always in the first paragraph. Rules to italicize words in novels and books are many: The author or writer is required to italicize foreign-language words that are likely to be unfamiliar to readers, when you are  emphasizing a word or a point, names or characters in the movie or play. Quotes and poems are always in italics.

  3. Not unless there is a specific reason to... however, in this case, your personal preference also counts as a reason.
