  1. I'm part of a surf lesson company called Girls Who Surf.  We take everyone, old people to young people.  We usually don't go to Waikiki Beach because it can get dangerous with all the other beginners in the water.  We usually take our students to less crowded breaks outside of Waikiki for a true taste of the Hawaiian surfing experience.

If you are a minor (under 18 years of age), you need to have a parent or guardian sign our waiver form.

  2. Of course, you can get surfing lessons at almost any popular beach. I have been to Hawaii a lot (Wikiki rocks!!), but the first time I got surfing lessons was in New Smyrna, Florida. I think it cost like a hundred bucks for my dad, my two bros, and myself to get private lessons. The dude was real cool and it was a lot easier than I thought.

About the age, ya, you will probably need to sign a waiver or something if your under 18. Also, if you have to rent a board, you are going to need the signature of someone over 18. My brother was only 9 when he learned, and my sister got a quick 5 min. lesson and she is 7. (she got right up the first time, it was freakin sweet!)

I hope you have fun man!

    Peace out!
