i wanna know what the want the new driver to do when they leave the dmv and how long the test will lasts for

Just drive where they tell you to drive, and watch for signs, traffic, and pedestrians.  It wouldn't be a bad idea to spend some time driving around all the streets nearby to the DMV you'll be testing at (within a mile or two) just so you know where all the school zones are and what the speed limits are.

And if you live someplace that parallel parking matters (I didn't), you're going to have to parallel park.  Learn how.

The whole thing shouldn't take more than a half-hour or so, but that could vary by state, by DMV, and by tester.

Oh, and if your tester is a snarky ***** (most of them are...think Patty and Selma on the Simpsons) just bear it.  Don't say a word, just let them have their bitter little victories.

Stopping and starting;

Turning around and backing up;

Making proper left and right turns;

Giving hand signals or using mechanical turn signals;

Driving in the proper lane;

Maintaining a safe following distance.

Note: Buckle your seat belt and keep both hands on the steering wheel while testing.
