  1. yes i have upgraded to hd a few months ago

and i got a new satellite and box

  2. it depends on what you already have.

If you have the 3LNB dish (meaning it has three SEPARATE doorknob-looking pieces in front of the dish), then you'll have to have it upgraded to a 5LNB (it looks like it has three, but two are right next to each other under the same cover - the dish itself might even say SLIMLINE) dish.

If you get the HD upgrade and need the dish upgrade as well, it's all included in the cost, so you don't have to worry about paying extra.

By the way, to the other answerer who said it's not true hd, you need to do some research. HD snobs say that it's not true hd because it's not 1080p. Note that I said they're SNOBS. 1080i  is only different because it will load every other line of pixels in an alternate fashion called INTERLACED (as in 1,3,5,2,4,6) whereas 1080p uses PROGRESSIVE SCAN where lines load in order (1,2,3,4,5,6). They both have the same number of pixels to provide the same amount of detail. There is a big dispute as to which provides better quality, and both have their merits. 1080p is good for faster action (sports are a good example) because it loads faster whereas 1080p is better for slower, more detailed pictures (such as that baboons hairy behind on the discovery channel). Most regular people don't even know the difference when they see it.

  3. I don't think you need a new dish, but I think you need an HD set top box.  However, I researched satellite TV about a month ago and found that it doesn't really give you HD...it's scaled down HD...so don't get super excited, unless you decide to switch to traditional cable OR verizon FIOS (i'd recommend fios...the best picture I've ever seen)
