When ur calling long distance does the person calling gets charged only?

  1. Yes, only the person, who initiated the call, gets charged, if you are both using landlines.  Now, if you are calling from a landline to a cellphone, it is a different situation.  If you are calling collect, from one landline to the other, then the other person would be responsible for the charges, provided they accept the call.  I have been using long distance for years, as my husband and I lived 100 miles apart, when we dated.  Now I call my family and in-laws, who are both long distance.


  2. That&#039;s the case for landlines (at least in the U.S.), unless you call collect. Then if the person you&#039;re calling accepts the charges, THEY pay for the whole call.

    As for cellphones, it probably varies between companies.
