When ur talking about boats what part is the alt and wat does it do?

Alt may be the alternator.  If you're looking at buying a used boat and it mentions an "alt", it may mean that the old "stator-type" generator has been replaced with a more modern alternator.  This is usually a good thing because an alternator will draw less power from the engine and also generate less heat.  Both are used to charge your battery while the engine runs, just like in a car.

I think the last person is right.  I can't think of a term like alt.  Aft yes, the rear of the ship.  The Bow is the front.  Port is left and Starboard is right.

Are you sure it's "alt" and not "aft"? Aft is toward the back of the boat, or Stern.
