I know how to use the auxiliary jack in my 2008 VW GTI. But when I have music playing through it, sound is only coming from one speaker. Is this a setting that needs to be changed? Or is it a faulty 3.5 headphone cable, or AUX jack? Thanks for the help.

  1. sounds like a faulty cable

  2. most likely a faulty cable. it could easily have a break in the wire and you would only hear from one side.

  3. If you're lucky, it's just a defective cable; but it could be a problem with the auxiliary jack.

Make sure the cable is pushed all the way into the aux jack and into your iPod's headphone jack. Some of the cases available for iPods make it more difficult to connect cables securely.  If the plug isn't fully seated into either jack, it can cause the problem you're describing.
