When using your social security number, does your name have to match the number exactly?

I recently went to get my permit and on the application only put my middle initial. The lady put it in the computer like that and it told her that my name didn't match my social security number. On the card it says my full middle name. Is the middle initial the problem?

probably...you need to use your full middle name, if it doesn't work then you need to go to the ss office and discuss the problem with them

It has to match exactly.

It's not too hard to print your name exactly the way it's written on your SS card.
