I know that he was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church.

Alexander III is more commonly known as Alexander the Great

  1. There was indeed an Alexander III canonized by the Catholic Church - he was pope from 1159 to 1181 and he was certainly not Alexander the Great.

The Catholic Encyclopedia lists many Alexanders who are either saints or important figures in Church history; since Alexander the Great was not even a Christian, there is no possibility at all of him ever being sanctified.
