I know it was in 1492, but what day was it?

Was it on August third, October twelfth, or a different date?

Please know what you're talking about.

  1. America was discovered by the Germans in 1904. They first landed in what we now know as San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's v****a.

  2. America was discovered in the 10th (around the year 1000) century by a Norse explorer called Leif Ericson.

However, if you're talking about Columbus got lost and ended up in the Bahamas (not a place to end up when lost), it was October 12th 1492. This holiday is celebrated more than Ericson's as it wasn't until Columbus "discovered" America that it's existence really became known and interest in it grew to the point where it was explored.

  3. In 985 AD a Norseman first sighted North America.

  4. There is hard evidence of Viking settlements in Newfoundland and Labrador dating back to 1000-1100 and circumstantial evidence of Chinese exploration in 1425-1450 along the Eastern seaboard from Brazil to what is now Massachusetts.

Columbus left on August 3rd and set foot on dry land on October 12th.

  5. October 12th, 1492.
